Equipment Required for Safety

Excessive Heat Excessive heat is defined as when players risk experiencing fatigue or heat stroke. Although games will not be cancelled due to excessive heat, the Club mandates that all parents and coaches ensure their players are provided with water or other refreshment (Gator Aid, etc.) at every opportunity.

Referees and coaches are mandated to take more frequent water breaks, i.e. one to tow per half an hour of play plus half time. Games may be shortened at the discretion of the coach(es) in consultation with the referees.

Signs of Heat Stroke: Coaches and parents are responsible for watching for the signs of heat stroke and to ensure players are drinking enough water.

First Aid: If heat stroke is suspected, the player is to be removed immediately from play, wet cloths should be draped over their head and body. Cool the player down and do not allow them back on the field. Seek medical aid or call 911 in cases of emergency.
